A love story

I've been slow to embrace social media. But here's something I posted a few days ago that I want to share here also:

My Facebook self has mostly been about my career as a scientist, and the unfathomable grief and unshakeable quest for Justice precipitated by the killing of my daughter in November 2020.

        AND NOW comes a story of sunrise, of blossoming. Of a woman I met on a coastal mountaintop more than three decades ago and fell into ferocious love with. Three years of adventures and smiles and then, poof, the pulls of youthful ambition and doubts cleaved us towards separate life paths. For three decades, no contact as we each blazed life arcs of career and family and happiness and tragedy.

         Until May 2024, when we locked eyes and marvelled at how instantly those decades of apartness gave way to transcendent healing, the return of Hope, the re-emergence of Joy.

           So, shouting from the mountaintop that Jennifer Knauer and I are now engaged to be married!
